Universities and Higher Educational Institutions in Sri Lanka

After school education, students can obtain valid certificates only by obtaining higher and professional education from recognized institutions and can also be used to get a job.

Certificates obtained from such unrecognized institutions may be rejected as invalid in obtaining employment opportunities. Therefore, this registration is beneficial for students who wish to pursue higher and professional education after school education.

Institutions where higher education can be obtained fall into the following categories.

• Universities and Higher Educational Institutions established under the University Grants Commission.
• Educational Institutions registered under Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission.
• National Colleges of Education under Ministry of Education and National Institute of Education
